The differential pressure – flow measurement principle
Our small and dynamic volume flow sensors (PFS, HFS and CFS) are based on the principle of a pressure drop across a flow resistance (Delta-P). A circular orifice is located in the middle between two pressure sensors, which generates a pressure loss when a flow occurs. The advantage of this measuring principle is that, in combination with fast pressure sensors, a very short response time in the range of 1 millisecond can be achieved. This enables volume measurements of dosed drops of less than 1 microliter. These dynamic sensors are suitable for both pulsating and continuous flow measurements and also monitor temperature and absolute pressure.
The ReseaTech micro flow sensors are ideal for measuring flow rates with high time resolu-tion. They can automatically calculate volume integrals to evaluate the dosed quantity of a filling or sampling process. In this process, the sensors are synchronized with the valve tim-ing to sample the flow during and after the valve opening time. The volume is calculated as a sum of the flow values over milliseconds to seconds.

The ReseaTech flow sensor plattform spreads from Microliters to liters. For example, the Hygienic Flow Sensor (HFS), designed for the beverage industry, measures flow rates of up to 12 l/min with the same dynamics and repeatability as the small sensors.
